The Emporia State baseball team couldn’t hold an early lead in a 9-6 loss at Central Oklahoma on Saturday. ESU built a 4-1 lead through two and a half innings with a pair of runs in the first and two more in the third. The Bronchos scored single runs in the first and second before taking the lead for good with four runs in the fourth. ESU got two back in the sixth to tie the game at six but the Bronze & Blue scored the last three runs of the game to hold off E-State for the win. Greg Ross (1-2) tossed 1.2 innings of relief and gave up just one hit and one unearned run with two walks but took the loss. Patryk Hernandez led the way offensively going 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a double. The Bronchos swept the three-game series as ESU fell to 15-20 overall and 6-14 in MIAA play. The Hornets play their last nonconference games of the year in a neutral site doubleheader with Upper Iowa on Monday beginning at 2:00 p.m. in Omaha, Neb.
