The second defendant in an Emporia aggravated robbery case after an incident last summer has now been sentenced.
Mikkel McCray was originally charged with aggravated robbery and conspiracy but saw his aggravated robbery charge dismissed after a plea agreement. On Friday, he was sentenced to 24 months probation with a 27-month underlying prison term for the conspiracy count.
McCray joins Elssy Cervantes, who accepted a plea agreement in November and was sentenced in January to two years probation and an underlying prison term of 16 months. Like McCray, Cervantes was originally charged with aggravated robbery and conspiracy but saw her robbery charge dismissed as part of the plea.
Meanwhile, Calvin Cruse is awaiting sentencing for his plea agreement. Cruse had initially been charged with
aggravated robbery and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery. In mid-March, he pleaded no contest to single counts of aggravated battery and conspiracy to commit aggravated battery. Sentencing is May 9.
Antonio Brown, the fourth and final defendant in this case, has a status conference May 23. He’s charged with aggravated robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.
