Sweet Granada Owner Kim Redeker made a major announcement that required a quick disclaimer on April Fools Day.
Redeker announced Monday that the “specialty sweets shop” is expanding to a second storefront, Sweet Granada KC, set to be located at the Red Bridge Shopping Center in Southern Kansas City. Redeker tells KVOE News the expansion plans have been in the works for right around 12 months and came about for two key reasons.
Redeker says they visited and toured several locations for the expansion over the past months and finally settled on the Red Bridge storefront saying it had the same atmosphere as downtown Emporia.
Redeker says renovations and cosmetic work began last week with the new location set to open its doors by the first week in May. As for the Emporia location, Redeker says there will be no changes here as the Emporia storefront will continue to be the “home base” for production and retail sales.
The Sweet Granada originally opened in the Granada Theatre’s south storefront back in November of 2004. The business would relocate to its now longtime home next door to the theatre back in October of 2013.
