The Emporia High girls swim team finished in fifth place in its home invitational on Thursday.
Emporia High’s top finish came from the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Camryn Spafford, Taryn Woydziak, Brooke Monroe and Ryan Peak who finished third with a time of 4:48.50. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Bailey Wiltz, Monroe, Woydziak and Peak finished fifth with a time of 2:04.58. Monroe finished sixth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:41.73), and seventh in the 100-yard backstroke (1:20.96). Spafford finished sixth in the 200-yard indvidual medley (3:12.63) and was seventh in the 500-yard freestyle (7:34.09). Taylor Cunningham finished sixth in the 500 free (7:33.51). Peak finished sixth in the 100 yard freestyle (1:06.83) and was eighth in the 50-yard freestyle (29.40).
As a team, Emporia High recorded 255 points finishing behind Washburn Rural, DeSoto, Independence and Wichita Collegiate.
Emporia High is off until next Thursday when it heads to Campus.
