A man accused of illegal sexual activity against a teenager now faces an additional count of alleged criminal action.
Dennis Ray Torrence Jr was already charged with two counts of rape and two counts of aggravated indecent liberties after alleged activity in January 2023. Prosecutors requested a third count of aggravated indecent liberties, saying the new count reflects evidence already ruled on as admissible if the case goes to trial, and Torrence waived a preliminary hearing on that specific count Wednesday.
The alleged victim in the case was 13 years old at the time of the alleged incidents.
A pretrial hearing has been set for 4 pm April 10. Jury trial is tentatively set for April 15, but there is a motion to move that date.
