As it moves towards building renovations, Little Lyons Childcare has its first administrator.
Serena Jeffery most recently worked with Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland, and Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jeanine McKenna says Jeffery’s passion for children stood out in the hiring process.
Jeffery officially begins her duties April 15.
Meanwhile, McKenna says final architect renderings are pending. In the meantime, Little Lyons has bid out the infant/toddler playground, thanks to a grant from the Trusler Foundation, and it plans to bid out the renovation process for the south side of the building soon so construction can begin in the fall. Renovations will actually begin with three rooms on the north side of the building before the south-side renovations begin.
Little Lyons is filling the building and property once known as Maynard Early Childhood Center. Fundraising continues, both to finish the renovations and to build an endowed fund that will ultimately keep Little Lyons sustainable while helping established childcare agencies in Emporia.
