For the past 25 years, Newman Regional Health has been welcoming local youth and their stuffed friends to a special community event and that tradition continued Saturday.
The 25th annual Newman Teddy Bear Clinic welcomed hundreds of children and their families to Flint Hills Mall. While there, young residents received some helpful information on personal health from Newman experts including Newman Family Medicine Physician Dr. Ryan LaSota who says they circle this event on their calendar each year.
LaSota adds it is completely normal for younger patients to be nervous when visiting the doctor’s office saying “They’re strange places.”
In addition to taking home some helpful information, children were also given a participant bag upon arrival. Along with Newman professionals, several volunteers and local agencies were also on hand to assist with the event including Flint Hills Technical College, Emporia State University students, Crosswinds Counseling and Wellness, Leap of Faith Martial Arts and the Emporia Fire Department just to name a few.
