Assistant Lyon County Attorney Amy Aranda is looking to serve as the county’s next lead prosecutor.
Friday, Aranda filed for election to the Lyon County Attorney position looking to replace retiring county attorney Marc Goodman. Goodman announced his retirement earlier this year after serving the county as its lead prosecutor for the last 24 years.
KVOE has reached out to Aranda for comment on her upcoming run for office.
Aranda is the second individual to file for election to a county department head position after Amie Jackson announced her candidacy for Lyon County Clerk. Jackson will be looking to take over the role from longtime clerk Tammy Vopat who, like Goodman, announced her current term will be her final.
Aranda’s filing comes in the same week that Chris Bartel announced his plans to seek election to the Lyon County Commission District Three Seat currently held by Rollie Martin. Martin has yet to announce if he will be seeking re-election this year.
Also on the ballot will be Lyon County Commission District 2 incumbent Doug Peck and challenger Sid Morgan. Lyon County Sheriff Jeff Cope, Lyon County Treasurer Sharon Gaede and Register of Deeds Wendy Weiss also announced their plans to seek re-election earlier this year and all are currently running unopposed.
The candidate filing and withdrawal deadline is noon June 1. The primary election is scheduled for August 6 followed by the general election on November 5.
