With National Safe Digging Month now underway, Kansas Gas Service Spokesperson Dawn Tripp recently joined KVOE’s Morning Show to remind listeners that safety is always their top priority year-round.
Tripp says it is important for residents to remember to call 811 before they begin any digging-related projects around their homes. Once a call has been completed to 811, utility crews will come out to mark your various utility lines free of charge.
Tripp says there are some with the misconception that a call to 811 is only necessary for certain-sized projects. She clarified Friday that is most certainly not the case.
In addition to discussing Safe Digging Month on KVOE’s airwaves, Kansas Gas Service is also looking to reward safe diggers thanks to a recent partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation. Tripp says all residents have to do to be eligible is take a safety pledge at BeadigheroKansas.com.
According to the Arbor Day Foundation, proper placement of a tree can help to reduce air conditioning and heating needs by 30 percent and save 20 to 50 percent of energy used on heating. For questions or more information visit Kansasgasservice.com or Beadighero.com.
