If you cook it, they will come.
At least, that has been and continues to be the case for the annual North Lyon County Youth Association annual Fish Fry in Allen Saturday. Organizer Kylie DeDonder has been involved with the event for over a decade now and says the turnout and support never cease to amaze her.
With a freewill donation, hungry residents were able to enjoy a selection of delicious fresh catfish, chicken strips, hushpuppies, baked beans, cole slaw, homemade desserts and beverages with all proceeds going to support the NLYCA. DeDonder says while the event is first and foremost a fundraiser, she says it has in recent years transformed from a “necessity” into a “celebration.”
Much of the food served Saturday was donated by various local businesses including Tiffany Cattle Company, Ogle Construction, the Wallace Fish Farm and Dumpster Pros.
Totals from the fish fry will be announced at a later time.
