Sacred Heart School’s Feast for Our Future was an unqualified success.
Friday night’s meal and auction fundraiser generated $44,000, meaning the school can fully fund a teacher’s aide position to help with the school’s increasing kindergarten enrollment as well as building needs, including internet work.
Speaking of building needs, Sacred Heart School is in the early study phase for a possible expansion or a new building. Principal Curtis Simons says this follows several in-house conversations and an employee survey done recently by Bill McKernan.
Sacred Heart owns the property across the alley from the current school building, giving the church the option of adding to the north or east side of the parish hall — or to build a new school.
In addition to a final decision on the overall plan, cost estimates have not been finalized. Simons says early ideas have been submitted to Father Carter Zielinski. There will be parishioner surveys and other conversations ahead, both at the local and diocesan levels. The timetable for upcoming discussions is pending.
