For nearly 50 years, Dillons has been feeding the residents of Emporia and now it will play a major role in helping to heal them.
Wednesday morning, representatives of Dillons Food Stores, including leadership of the Emporia store, gathered at the former Goodwill location at 904 East 12th Avenue for a ribbon cutting on the new Dillons Pharmacy storefront. Kroger Dillons Division President Steve Dreher spoke at the event and says when it comes to the communities they serve, Dillons wants to be an “integral” piece of those communities.
Dreher also noted that given the size of the East 12th location, of which the pharmacy is only using a fraction of, there is potential for more growth in the future.
Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jeanine McKenna tells KVOE News Dillons’ investment in Emporia is not only exciting, it says a lot about the quality of the community.
Dillons has had a presence in Emporia since the grocery store opened back in 1975. Emporia’s pharmacy is the 72nd pharmacy out of Dillon’s 80 store locations across Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska and is the company’s first new pharmacy to be opened in over 20 years.
The pharmacy will be open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 7 pm and Saturdays from 9 am to 6 pm.
