The Emporia High track and field teams competed at the Leitel Legacy Invitational hosted by Lawrence Free State on Friday.
The Lady Spartans finished ninth with 34 points. Paige Newland won the triple jump with a jump of 35-2.25 and took third in the long jump with a mark of 15-11. Mia Trujillo finished third in the discus with a throw of 109-6 and took fifth in the shot put with a throw of 34-11.50. Alexa Shivley finished fifth in the triple jump with a jump of 31-10. The girls 4x800m relay team of Sofia Ruvalcaba, Emma Beatty, Leanna Lewis, and Bailee Van Sickle finished sixth with a time of 10:58.20. Talihah Tabares finished eighth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 17.85.
The Spartans finished 12th with 25 points. Jeremiah Huber won the pole vault clearing 13-6. Blake Spellman finished third in the 400m dash with a time of 50.60. Daghyn True finished sixth in the 3,200m with a time of 9:42.29 and was seventh in the 1,600m with a time of 4:33.65. RJ Tabares finished seventh in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.05. Calvin Seeley finished seventh in the long jump with a leap of 19-9.50.
Emporia High will send athletes to the 101st Kansas Relays to be held next Friday and Saturday at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence.
