Riders and enthusiasts came together for the 29th Spring Fling Bike Show, courtesy of ABATE District 12 of Kansas.
Among those displaying motorcycles was Bobby Garner of North Carolina. The Garner family is constantly on the road for the camper hauling business in Indiana, and it keeps a motorcycle in Emporia for an annual visit to Sturgis, South Dakota. He says riding motorcycles is like “being in the movie” instead of watching one, and he says his love for motorcycles developed early.
Garner was grateful for the opportunity to show the motorcycles — and and for the chance to interact with ABATE members.
Also on hand were a number of vendors, including Bikers Against Child Abuse. The organization uses code names for anonymity, and Snuffy, BACA’s Kansas state president and Native Stone chapter president, tells KVOE News motorcycles open doors for kids who may be abused.
Snuffy also says the Bike Show’s timing was beneficial for BACA’s efforts locally.
Residents can learn more about BACA’s mission online at BACAWorld.org.
Besides the motorcycle show and vendors, the event also featured an auction generating funds for ABATE partners. Totals are pending.
