Emporia City Commissioners are convening for their regular action and study meetings a day earlier than normal this week.
Commissioners will first convene for their action session at 11 am inside the Municipal Courtroom at White Auditorium with several development matters on their agenda. This includes a development agreement with Fairview Hotels LLC. for the construction of a new hotel and conference center at the former Montana Mike’s location at 3010 Eaglecrest Drive. This will be the latest step in the project process after commissioners previously approved Community Improvement District status and declared intent for the issuance of industrial revenue bonds both of which bring a range of tax benefits to the project.
In other business, commissioners will consider annexing real property, specifically Industrial Park IV, and right of way into the city limits. An ordinance establishing the Lockwood Rural Housing Incentive District and acceptance of the project’s development plan will also see consideration.
Commissioners may also approve the annual Emporia/Lyon County Transfer Station’s Spring Landfill Days from April 27th through May 5th and could award a bid of more than $112,000 to Total Habitat for a renovation of the Bald Eagle Pond at the David Traylor Zoo.
Following an executive session, commissioners will adjourn their action meeting and move to City Conference Room 1AB for their regular study session. During that time, commissioners will receive an update on Quaker Park, a final report from the Economic Development Structure Advisory Task Force and review both changes to wastewater industrial pretreatment codes and the a city boards and commission handbook.
The meetings begin with the action session at 11 am inside of the Municipal Courtroom at White Auditorium.
