The city of Harveyville is getting a significant Technical Assistance Grant from the state as it plans a major water system project.
Harveyville is getting over $75,000 to fund the engineering design process as part of an overall project to increase chlorine levels across town, including a new direct line to the city’s water tower, a new agitating system in the tower and eliminating certain water lines while downsizing others. Mayor Dustin Kuntz says this will reduce the age of the city water system while improving quality and safety.
Once the design plans are done, Kuntz says Harveyville will reapply for project funding through the Kansas Water Office. The city’s most recent application for state funding was declined.
