A status conference is coming next month in the case of a Texas woman charged in Coffey County with human trafficking.
24-year-old Leslie Cadena of Laredo had a review hearing Friday and will be back in court May 15.
Cadena was arrested by the Kansas Highway Patrol on Jan. 30 after an alleged incident the previous day. Documents posted online to the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal indicate Cadena was in the process of illegally transporting a teenager from Ohio to Texas and was speeding when she was stopped by the Kansas Highway Patrol.
Cadena is charged with single counts of human smuggling, interference with law enforcement, possession of drug paraphernalia, no valid drivers license and no proof of insurance.
