Repairs may not occur until the early morning hours Friday after a quartet of poles were damaged on a major roadway in Emporia late Thursday afternoon.
According to the city of Emporia an undisclosed “incident” led to four poles being downed, three light poles and a transformer pole according to Evergy, near the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Prairie Street. Full details are pending, however, KVOE News has been told the incident reportedly involved a tractor.
All four poles were damaged beyond repair and the transformer pole was not providing service to any residential customers in the area according to Evergy District Services Manager Rolland Trahoon II. Trahoon says since the damaged poles did not provide any significant service to the surrounding area immediate replacement was not a necessity. As such Trahoon tells KVOE News Evergy will replace the damaged poles “first thing” Friday morning.
No other damages or injuries were reported as a result of Thursday’s incident.
