A cold start to the day Sunday will quickly give way to warmer, windier and wetter conditions through the upcoming work week.
The National Weather Service has issued a frost advisory affecting Osage and Wabaunsee counties in the KVOE listening area from 1 am to 8 am Sunday. The advisory reflects overnight temperatures in the low 30s which could be harmful to sensitive vegetation.
Residents are encouraged to cover vulnerable plants or bring them inside to protect them from the elements. Once the colder temperatures subside, highs in the low 60s Sunday afternoon are expected to continue rising through the following weekend with temperatures forecasted in the low to mid 70s throughout the week possibly reaching as high as the low 80s by Friday.
Along with the warm-up will come windy conditions Monday with southerly winds set to be steady around 15 to 25 mph with gusts as high as 40 mph possible at times. Wet and stormy days are to follow beginning Tuesday with chances of showers and thunderstorms prevalent throughout the remainder of the workweek.
