New Emporia State men’s basketball coach Tom Billeter has announced his first coaching staff at the school. Casey Schlatter rejoins Billeter after serving as his associate head coach for the past five seasons at Augustana. He’ll assume the same role at ESU and will primarily coach post players for the Hornets. Schlatter played collegiately at Drake & Grand View. Devon Whitelow rejoins Billeter’s staff after spending last season at his alma mater Winona State. Whitelow also coached under Billeter at Augustana. While playing at Winona State, Whitelow led the country in assist-to-turnover ratio at just under 6.0 in 2018-19. Billeter also announced that Marquis McCray will be retained as part of his staff and will begin his seventh year in Emporia. The Wichita Heights product played four years for former head coach Craig Doty before joining his coaching staff as a graduate assistant each of the past two years.
