Maya Angelou has a quote, “Be the rainbow in someone’s storm.”
Newman Regional Health is using that quote to celebrate its volunteers for Volunteer Week. Activities a part of the week include holding a a fundraiser on May 6 and 7 for its scholarship program. Items up for sale include jewelry, t-shirts and home décor. The fundraiser will be from 8-5 p.m. May 6 and 8-3 p.m. May 7 in the serpentine hallway at NRH. Applications for the scholarship open on May 1.
Volunteer Coordinator Deb Storrer says volunteers put in their time and effort for the hospital.
Volunteers at Newman Regional Health perform a variety of duties which range from running the gift shoppe, snack bar, information desk and delivering mail and information to staff.
Storrer says the hospital is still in need of volunteers to help out at their information desks with changes continue to be constant.
