The Emporia High softball team snapped an 8-game losing streak with a doubleheader sweep over Highland Park Tuesday at Peter Pan Park.
Emporia High took the opener, 14-0, in five innings, while taking the finale, 15-0, in three innings.
In game one, Emporia High scored five in the second, four in the third and five in the fourth for the win. Alivia Anno went the distance in the circle, allowing two hits and strikeouts. Bailey Schlesener went 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs. Ryane Howe and Yzabel Ultreras each drove in two.
In game two, Emporia High scored four in the second and 11 in the third. Molly Williams drove in six in the third with an inside-the-park grand slam and a 2-run double. Williams said her grand slam came at a perfect time.
Addie Kirmer, Marley Sewell and Hayden Mann each went 2-for-2 at the plate. Anno allowed just one hit and recorded four strikeouts.
Emporia High coach Tommy McClure said getting two wins was big.
Emporia High is now 4-10 on the season. The Lady Spartans will travel to Iola on Friday.
