An Emporia man accused of rape will be back in court next month.
22-year-old Erik Armando Alvarez had his first appearance in Lyon County District Court Tuesday afternoon where he was set for a preliminary hearing at 9 am May 15 before Judge Doug Jones. Alvarez has been charged with one count of rape against a child under the age of 14 and dating back to January 2021.
The case details will likely be sealed throughout the court process, but the legal complaint says the alleged victim was 13 at the time of the alleged incident.

An Emporia man has been arrested and charged with rape.
The Kansas District Court Public Access Portal says 22-year-old Erik Armando Alvarez has been charged with one count of rape against a child under the age of 14 and dating back to January 2021. Alvarez will start his court process with a first appearance in Lyon County District Court shortly after 1 pm Tuesday.
