A North Newton woman was hurt in a crash near the Lyon-Chase county line late Tuesday night.
Chase County Sheriff Jacob Welsh reports the wreck involved two vehicles, a car and a van, and happened on US Highway 50 near Chase County YY Road at around 11:45 pm.
The car driver, 57-year-old Gwendolyn Neufeld of North Newton, was westbound while the van, driven by 44-year-old Noble Jackson of Wesley Chapel, Florida, was eastbound. Welsh says Jackson crossed the center line and began driving in the westbound lane. Neufeld tried to avoid the van but the vehicles collided.
Neufeld had to be extricated from her car and was taken to Newman Regional Health with unspecified injuries. There are no reports of injuries to Jackson or to Neufeld’s passenger, 20-year-old Elisabeth Freisen of North Newton.
