Emporia High sophomore Allisyn Weiss and junior Brooke Monroe finished 1-2 in the diving portion of the EHS Invitational on Thursday afternoon.
Weiss and Monroe recorded personal best scores in the six-dive meet to lead the way for Emporia High to a fourth place finish as a team. . Weiss won her seventh meet of the season with a score of 282.85. Weiss said she was confident heading into the meet.
After a career-best performance on Tuesday, Monroe recorded a career-best score of 167.20 to finish a season-best second. Monroe said diving at home gave her confidence to have a good meet.
In the swim portion of the meet, the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Ryan Peak, Monroe, Taryn Woydziak and Camryn Spafford finished third with a time of 4:39.34. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Peak, Monroe, Bailey Wiltz and Spafford finished fourth with a time of 1:59.67.
Taylor Cunningham finished fifth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 7:07.42 and was eighth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:42.02. Cunningham said it was a successful final home meet.
Peak finished fourth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:27.07 and was sixth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 29.37.
To add her second in diving, Monroe finished fifth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:21.94.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Wiltz, Connelly Prouse, Avery Grimwood and Cunningham finished seventh with a time of 2:33.63.
Spafford finished eighth in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 3:01.77 and finished eighth in the 500 free with a time of 7:14.02. Prouse finished 10th in the 200 IM with a time of 3:13.93.
Wiltz finished ninth in the 50 free with a time of 30.19.
Emporia High coach Jamie Dawson said times continue to drop across the board at the right time.
Emporia High recorded 300 points as a team finishing behind Garden City, McPherson and Seaman.
Emporia High will next compete on Tuesday in the Topeka High Invitational at Capitol Federal Natatorium.
