A preliminary hearing is tentatively set for next week after an alleged vehicle pursuit ended with a crash in Chase County nearly a month ago.
Formal charges have been filed against 20-year-old Logan Benjamin-Lee Gentry, who now faces eight counts related to the April 10 pursuit: two counts of felon interference with law enforcement and single counts of flee and elude, aggravated battery, driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance and reckless driving.
The Kansas Highway Patrol has said Gentry was eastbound on US Highway 50 and was fleeing law enforcement when Gentry tried to use the westbound entrance to Kansas Highway 177 for the purpose of going south. Instead, Gentry left the highway and his pickup rolled several times, badly hurting Tiffany Ortiz of Wichita. Troopers say Gentry actually got out of the truck and led a short foot pursuit before he was captured.
The prelim is tentatively set for 2 pm Monday but may be continued. One witness will be unavailable for testimony.
