The Red Bridge Shopping Center in Southern Kansas City officially has a sweet new business.
The Sweet Granada KC officially opened in the shopping center Friday afternoon following well over a year’s worth of planning according to owner Kim Redeker. Redeker spoke with KVOE News just hours after the official ribbon cutting and says they were busy from the moment the doors opened.
The grand opening of its second location culminates an exciting few weeks for the Sweet Granada after Kansas Governor Laura Kelly paid a visit to the Emporia location as part of her “Healthy Workers, Healthy Economy” tour last Thursday. Redeker says the governor’s visit coupled with the opening of their new location has left her and her staff feeling a great sense of “validation.”
She adds this new chapter for the Sweet Granada has been an “energizing” journey for her.
The new storefront was announced on April 1 with Redeker telling KVOE News the expansion was the direct result of both great investment decisions in production over the past few years and the need for growth physically and financially. Redeker has stated the expansion to Kansas City will have no impact on the Emporia storefront as it will continue to be the “home base” for production and retail sales.
The Sweet Granada has been a staple in downtown Emporia for the past 20 years after opening in November of 2004. After being located in the Granada Theatre’s south storefront for nearly a decade, the business moved to its now longtime home next door to the theatre back in October of 2013.
