The Emporia High boys tennis team’s season came to an end Friday at the Emporia High Tennis Courts.
Seniors Sheldon Stewart and Jacob Simons went 1-2 on the day but lost in the win-and-in match to qualify for state against Shawnee Heights’ Alex Austin and Roscoe Poyner, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. Stewart and Simons won their first match of the day defeating Owen Phillips and Jordan Ward of Shawnee Heights, 6-3, 6-2.
Osmar Rubio Guzman and Ricardo Macias lost their only to Topeka West, 6-0, 6-1.
Micah Mischke lost 6-0, 6-0 in his only match to Blue Valley Southwest’s Sanjay Rajkumar, 6-0, 6-0. Tegan Mitchell lost his only match to Blue Valley Southwest’s Emmett Wirth, 6-0, 6-0.
