The Emporia High girls soccer team needed a late goal to defeat Augusta on Friday night.
Katie Smart scored the game-winning goal with 8:50 to play to give the Lady Spartans a 2-1 victory. Peyton Chanley scored the lone goal of the first half giving Emporia High a 1-0 advantage. Augusta tied the game in the second half before Smart’s game-winner occurred.
Emporia High is now 9-4-1 on the season. The Lady Spartans host Hayden for Senior Night on Tuesday at 6:15 p.m. at Emporia High.
