The Emporia State softball team’s season ended in the quarterfinals of the MIAA Tournament yesterday as a comeback fell short in an 8-6 loss to #9 Central Oklahoma. The No. 6 seed Lady Hornets fell behind quickly 5-0 after two innings before plating two runs in the third on a Lexi Williams single. Haley Garnett singled home another run in the 4th but that is as close as the Lady Hornets would get. The No. 3 seed Bronchos cleared the bases with a single in the fourth and ESU never got closer than two the rest of the way. ESU mounted one final push when Emma Furnish drove home a run in the seventh to put the winning run at the plate with one out but E-State went out in order to end the game. Gracie Rabe (9-10) didn’t make it out of the first inning for ESU in the circle to take the loss. Williams finished 3-for-4 with 2 RBI’s for ESU. ESU’s season ends at 31-20.
