Emporia Police are investigating a wreck that developed between a pickup truck and motorcycle Friday afternoon.
Officers and Emporia/Lyon County EMS responded to the intersection of East South and Exchange just after 3 pm. Officer Lane Doty says the motorcycle was eastbound on East South, while the truck was northbound and turning west. Early indications are the truck driver didn’t see the motorcycle and turned in front of the other vehicle. The motorcycle then broadsided the truck on the driver’s side.
The motorcycle driver was taken to Newman Regional Health with unspecified injuries. The truck driver was not apparently hurt. Names have not been released.
South Avenue traffic was blocked in both directions between Cottonwood and Union for about an hour after the crash.
