Last week’s heavy rainfall reset the US Drought Monitor’s weekly map, at least for most area counties.
For the past two weeks, abnormally dry conditions have been in place areawide. However, rain amounts ranging from 2-9 inches, depending on the county, cleared most of the area from any stage of drought. Part of extreme southwest Lyon County remains abnormally dry, as does most of Chase County, part of eastern Morris County and the north half of Osage County.
Most of Lyon County got 2-5 inches from April 25-28, while parts of Coffey County got up to 6.5 inches and parts of Greenwood County got up to 9 inches of rain.
Rainfall after Tuesdays does not count towards data included in the weekly maps posted every Thursday morning.
