Downtown Emporia once again hosted one of the core activities on the Dynamic Discs Open schedule Saturday, the DDO Block Party.
Disc golf competitors, vendors, enthusiasts and residents descended on the 800 and 900 blocks of Commercial for the annual celebration that included various vendors, food trucks and plenty of disc golf of course. Emporia Main Street Community Development Coordinator Jessica Buccholz says when it comes to DDO weekend, the block party is one of the core events visitors look forward to every year.
DDO Competitor Trevor Svoboda says from the competition to the block party and the community hospitality, there is no community quite like Emporia.
Vendor Luke Mollerup of Oregon was attending his first DDO and says it certainly lived up to the hype.
Competitor Billy Engel has been coming to Emporia since 2011 and says the community never fails to live up to its title of Disc Golf Capital USA.
On top of the various vendors and food trucks to sample, block party attendees were also able to take part in the ring of fire and putting competitions as part of the evening’s festivities.
