For the second consecutive year, CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness utilized the power of laughter to help combat the stigma of mental health Friday evening.
The organization held its second annual Stand Up to Stigma comedy show inside the Granada Theatre featuring headliner Gina Brillon. Brillon, a comedian since the age of 17, is a former contestant and finalist on America’s Got Talent and an avid supporter of mental health awareness.
She tells KVOE News when she was offered an opportunity to team up with Crosswinds she didn’t hesitate.
Noting her struggles with mental health, Brillon says the art of comedy and the mission of CrossWinds mix extremely well.
Also performing Friday evening were Cole Fletcher, Cody Lindenberger and Jamie Campbell who was making his second straight appearance at the event. On top of the comedy, the evening also featured a mental health experts panel, dinner and a live and silent auction.
Proceed totals from the evening are currently pending.
