A man who allegedly fired several shots in Emporia before leading authorities on a chase in late February has an appearance planned in Lyon County District Court on Monday.
Juan Medina Cervantes Jr, age 33 of Emporia, is set for a pretrial and arraignment conference at 8:30 am. These hearings are typically when potential trial start dates are set.
Cervantes is charged with firing up to 10 shots in central Emporia. Emporia Police officers say they were dispatched to the 700 block of Neosho to start the investigation process and found Cervantes in that immediate area. Offices also say Cervantes fled but was found and arrested.
Cervantes is charged with interference with law enforcement, unlawful discharge of a firearm in the city limits, possession of a firearm under the influence or alcohol or drugs and possession of both marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
