Flint Hills Technical College is set to host the “Fill Your Bucket” event on Wednesday.
The event will be held at the Trusler Conference Center from 6 to 8 p.m. Attendees will have a chance to visit booths and support services from local organizations
Along with the booths available for providers, FHTC Child Care Coordinator Nancy Robinson says attendees will receive a bucket filled with information.
Attendees will also get their choice of a children’s book set.
Robinson says there’s been some confusion in the community that FHTC was offering child care, rather than it being a program for students at the school.
Interested students have to be 16 years old and at least a junior or a senior in high school to start the program. Robinson says students can do the program online, in-person, or hybrid.
The first student in the program will graduate this spring. FHTC has an agreement with Emporia State University where students start the program at FHTC and receive their Associate’s Degree, with those credits carrying over to ESU towards their Bachelor’s Degree.
