The first notable date for this election cycle is quickly approaching.
The candidate filing and withdrawal deadline is now less than a month away. Lyon County Election Officer Tammy Vopat, a recent guest of KVOE’s Morning Show says things are going “very well” in her office leading up to the deadline. She reminded voters that several local races have seen at least one filing in recent months.
On the other hand, however, Vopat says there are still several seats that have yet to have a single filing at this time.
Those wishing to file for any position have until noon on Monday, June 3 to do so. Following the filing and withdrawal deadline, the next notable date for local voters to remember will be Tuesday, July 16, the deadline for voter registration.
The primary election is Aug. 6. The general election is Nov. 5.
