Several area road and bridge projects are taking the next steps towards construction after recent contract approvals by the Kansas Department of Transportation.
KDOT approved contracts for signage on “major collectors” east of Kansas Highway 99 in Greenwood County. This involves over 110 miles of coverage for the signs. Signs Up, doing business as Haren’s Trees and Critters of Webster City, Iowa, gained the contract with a bid of almost $370,000.
Meanwhile, KDOT has approved a nearly $1 million pedestrian-and-bike path project in Council Grove. This involves half a mile of paths on several city streets: Chautauqua from Hall to Hays, Hall from Chautauqua to Neosho, Third from Oak to US Highway 56, UD-56 from Third to 10th, Eighth from US-56 to Stevens and Ninth from Welch to US-56. Bettis Asphalt and Construction of Topeka won the contract.
Construction timetables for these projects are pending.
