The Emporia High track and field teams finished fourth and fifth at the Centennial League Championships in Junction City on Thursday.
The Lady Spartans finished with 68 points. Emporia High’s lone league champion came from the 4x800m relay team of Sofia Ruvalcaba, Bailee Van Sickle, Emma Beatty and Leanna Lewis finishing in a time of 10:37.45. Paige Newland had a pair of second place finishes in the long jump (18-0) and triple jump (37-1.50). Lexsey DeWitt finished second in the 300m hurdles with a time of 50.05. Talihah Tabares finished third in both the 100m and 30om hurdles. Tabares ran a 17.33 in the 100 and 50.48 in the 300m. Elise Eckert was third in the 100m hurdles (17.89) and fifth in the 300m hurdles (52.33). Alexa Shivley finished fourth in the triple jump (33-8). Harley Smith finished fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.51 while Lauren Williams finished sixth with a time of 1:05.37. Micah Sheffy-Harris finished fifth in the 3,200m with a time of 12:55.19. Kyla Herfkens finished fifth in the javelin (104-8). Beatty finished sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:31.88 and also finished sixth in the 1,600m with a time of 5:45.87. The 4x100m relay team of Reagan Thompson, Marley Mullen, Kaylee DeWitt and Newland finished sixth (52.16). The 4x400m relay team of Smith, Williams, Lexsey DeWitt and Thompson finished fifth (4:18.52). Mia Trujillo finished sixth in the discus with a toss of 102-4.
The Spartans finished with 38 points with their lone champion coming from Daghyn True who won the 1,600m with a time of 4:23.20. He also finished third in the 3,200m with a time of 9:45.41.
Blake Spellman finished third in the 400m with a time of 51 seconds. RJ Tabares finished fifth in the 110m hurdles (15.58) and 300m hurdles (42.74). Calvin Seeley finished fifth in the long jump (20-2.75). Garrett LeBlanc finished fifth in the triple jump (39-11.5). Kyler Worrel finished fifth in the pole vault (10-0). Enrique Rios finished fifth in the discus (134-6). Zander Keosybounheaung was fifth in the javelin (142-0). Mason Jenkins finished sixth in the 200m (23.52). The 4x100m relay team of Harry Trelc, Seleey, Spellman and Tabares finished sixth (44.01). The 4x400m relay team Spellman, Trelc, LeBlanc and Tabares finished sixth (3:31.77).
Emporia High will travel to regionals next Friday hosted by Bishop Carroll at Wichita Northwest.
