Sunday was not just the tip of the iceberg, but the start of a whole new journey for the 2024 senior class of Emporia High School.
That was the message from EHS Principal Dathan Fischer to the more than 300 graduating seniors during the EHS graduation ceremony inside a full-capacity White Auditorium. During his comments, Fischer spoke to the importance of recognizing that graduation may be the end of students’ K-12 journey, however, it is far from the pinnacle of what they will accomplish and experience moving forward.
While speaking with KVOE News Sunday, Fischer expressed his pride in the 2024 class, noting they had to overcome several challenges including beginning their high school careers during a global pandemic.
Given all they have accomplished, Fischer says he does not doubt that whatever this year’s graduating class faces in the future, there is no hurdle they cannot clear. In addition to various awards and honors, the 2024 graduating class accumulated over $1 million in scholarships.
