Mike Argabright is looking to change direction with his community service.
Argabright announced a run for the Kansas Senate 17th District last week after retiring last summer from USD 252 Southern Lyon County. He tells KVOE News “my heart is in helping people.”
Besides his roots in agriculture and education, Argabright has also been extremely active in the community through his work as a United Way of the Flint Hills campaign drive leader, the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce, Ignite Emporia, Emporia State University’s Jones Institute for Educational Excellence and SOS.
Argabright says he was approached and recruited by retiring Senator Jeff Longbine, but he’s also more than willing to try his hand at politics.
Argabright is currently the only announced candidate for that seat, and he says he’s doing his best to network across the district and begin fundraising. The candidate filing and withdrawal deadline is noon June 3.
