Construction season is fully underway, and residents are encouraged to learn more about a street rehab project near downtown Emporia.
The city has scheduled a Street Rehab Brick Street public meeting at 6 pm May 29 at White Auditorium City Conference Room 1AB. This will involve an overview of the schedule for work on East 10th between Mechanic and Union as well as East 11th between Mechanic and Market. This will also involve a look at the project scope and potential impacts to drivers and nearby residents.
This meeting follows a similar meeting Tuesday evening for the expansive 24th and Prairie waterline improvement project, also at White Auditorium City Conference Room 1AB. Work on this project could begin early next month and last through most of next year.
The meeting also precedes the upcoming shutdown of Lincoln Street at the Interstate 35 bridge as bridge replacement picks up speed. The shutdown is set for the last week of May and will see the bridge closed through at least summer 2025.
