Emporia Spartan Boxing’s Junior Robles finished his run at the 2024 Golden Gloves National tournament with a 1-1 record.
Robles would earn a 3-2 decision victory over Isai Vaelazco Ortiz of West Valley City, Utah in the opening round of the 147 lbs weight division. In his second round bout, Robles would earn a a standing 8-count in the first round and kept up the pressure through the following two rounds.
However; Robles would lose a 3-2 decision to Zach Carter of Chicago. Robles, a three time national qualifier, three time Kansas State Champion and three time regional champion will return to action for Spartan Boxing on Saturday June 1 in Manhattan.
June 1 could be Robles’ final amateur bout as he is current considering stepping up to the professional level by the end of the year, however, no official decision has been made.
