An Emporia man faces possible charges after allegedly fleeing from law enforcement Tuesday night.
The alleged incident began developing at around 10 pm. Lyon County Undersheriff John Koelsch says Sgt. Zach Shafer saw a four-wheel all-terrain vehicle that was occupied by a male driver and female passenger at Sixth and State. The vehicle did not have headlights on.
Koelsch says Shafer tried to stop the vehicle at Seventh and State, but the driver fled and eventually stopped in the east alley in the 600 block of Rural. The driver, identified as Luis Alejandro Gutierrez-Limon, was arrested on suspicion of flee and elude, reckless driving and several traffic infractions.
Koelsch says ATVs, typically meant for single riders and using handlebars for steering, are not allowed on city streets. Utility-terrain vehicles or UTVs, which often have space for up to four people and drives like a standard vehicle, are allowed if they are properly equipped.
