Four Emporia State track & field athletes have been named All-Central Region by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Senior Travis Morrison led the way as the top ranked shot putter in the region and is ranked fifth in the country in the event while senior Jake Johnson is fourth in the region in the 400m hurdles. Sophomore Ty Anderson is ranked fifth in the Central Region in the 100m dash while Mele Taula’s ESU record toss in the javelin ranks her fifth in the region. She’s also sixth in the central region in the shot put. The Hornets are hosting the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships beginning Thursday at Welch Stadium in Emporia. Six Hornets are participating in seven events, the most events represented by the program in the National Championships since 2015.
