The Emporia Recreation Commission will discuss facilities, purchases, policies and budgets during its monthly meeting Monday.
Following leadership team updates, board members will discuss recent hires — former Emporia State soccer coach Bryan Sailer as sports supervisor and Logan Buehler as outdoor maintenance foreman. Sailer led the Emporia State soccer program for 12 seasons and accumulated the most wins in program history, along with four NCAA Tournament appearances, but was placed on paid administrative leave in late November and later separated from the university in December after alleged violations of the school’s student-athlete code of conduct by team members in late November.
Board members will discuss the at-large member application process and will review the fiscal 2024-2025 budget. They will also discuss separate meetings with city administrators and Rec Commission landscape architect Vance Rzepka on future outdoor facilities.
In other business, board members will review quotes from attorneys interested in representing the Rec Commission. They could also approve purchasing the agenda and meeting module from Civic Clerk.
Monday’s meeting is at 5:30 pm at the Lee Beran Recreation Center.
