So far, one of the three Missourians arrested Wednesday after an alleged failure to yield incident near Emporia has been charged with criminal activity.
The Kansas District Court Public Access Portal says 21-year-old Maelynn Martinez of Blue Springs is now facing single counts of drug distribution and paraphernalia possession. Formal charges against 22-year-old Raeanne Franco and 24-year-old Julio Santoyo, both of Kansas City, have not been filed. All three were arrested Wednesday evening but none are currently listed on the Lyon County Jail roster.
Lyon County deputies say they stopped a car on Interstate 35 near the Road U junction after it didn’t yield to a stationary emergency vehicle helping a disabled motorist. Deputies say the resulting traffic stop led to over 400 grams of marijuana, nearly 120 THC vape cartridges, assorted edible THC products and drug paraphernalia allegedly in the vehicle.
The first court appearance for Martinez is shortly after 1 pm Monday.
