An Emporia woman was hospitalized after her and another vehicle collided on Road 200 Monday evening.
The accident was reported around 5:45 pm in the 600 block of Road 200, also known as Americus Road. According to Lyon County Sgt. Zach Shafer, a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro driven by 51-year-old Veronica Ruiz of Emporia was traveling westbound in the area when the vehicle crossed the center line for unknown reasons.
The Camaro then collided head on with an eastbound 2018 GMC Sierra driven by 24-year-old Zachary Grider of Iola. Ruiz was taken to Newman Regional Health with undisclosed injuries.
Grider and two unnamed passengers refused treatment at the scene. All involved were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
The crash is under further investigation by the Lyon County Sheriff’s office.
