A top-five finish at state was how the season ended for the Emporia High boys golf team at the Class 5A State Golf Championships at Sand Creek Station in Newton.
Emporia High finished fifth as a team shooting +50 for the tournament.
Hudson Sauder finished 16th with a 156. Will Walker tied for 32nd 164. Nolan Jacob finished 39th with a 168. Marley Harter tied for 44th with a 171 Jared Johnson finished 59th with a 183. Cooper Rech finished 60th with a 208.
Emporia High will return five of its six golfers for 2025 with Rech graduating.
Council Grove’s Drew Buchman finished in a tie for third at the Class 3A State Golf Championship held at Emporia Golf Course. Buchman talked about his round and the future.
Buchman will search for a state championship next spring as a senior.
