Part of US Highway 54 in western Greenwood County will be replaced beginning next month.
The Kansas Department of Transportation says it plans to replace the bridge over Burnt Creek starting the week of June 3. The bridge is 3.5 miles east of the Greenwood-Butler county line.
KDOT will have two-way traffic on a temporary road around the work zone along with reduced speed limits. KDOT anticipates the new bridge should open early next year.
B&B Bridge Company of St. Paul, Kansas, won the contract with a $2.4 million bid.
